The market review for December, 24st

MARKET 12Stock trades in the United States were closed on December 23 2009. the rise of the leading stock indicators 0,01-0,75% against a confident speech technology market and the growth in world oil prices.

Top gainers were paper metallurgical and oil companies. Anadarko Petroleum oil shares have risen in price for the session at 2,5%, oilfield Schlumberger – by 2%. Quotations of futures on the eve of WTI crude oil closed at around 76.67 dollars per barrel. (+3.1%). Grew and prices of industrial metals, particularly copper, which resulted in the positive dynamics of quotations of mining companies. Freeport shares gained weight 3,2%, Newmont Mining of paper went up by 2,8%.

Better the market shares of the newly traded technology companies. Quotations papers online auction eBay Inc. climbed up to the auction by 4,5%, but rates the company Yahoo!, owns one of the leading search services – nearly 4%.

Arena Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ARNA:US) fell 3.7 percent to $3.65. The biotechnology company said Merck & Co. (MRK:US) has decided to discontinue development of MK-1903, an investigational niacin receptor agonist to treat atherosclerosis being developed under its research collaboration with Arena.

Merrimac Industries Inc. (MRM:US) surged 38 percent to $15.92. Crane Co. (CR:US) said it plans to buy the designer and maker of parts for satellite, aircraft and cellular communications for $16 a share in cash.

Omnicare Inc. (OCR:US): The biggest provider of pharmacy services for U.S. nursing homes said David W. Froesel Jr. resigned as senior vice president and chief financial officer.
