ETF is a security, which is traded, as the ordinary shares in major world markets. Parts ЕТF may be securities of companies of any region or industry, like mutual funds. Working with ЕТF, the trader can combine the security and smooth operation of the main world stock exchanges with the ability to use a wide variety of financial conditions in various countries and regions of the world.

For legal classification, ETFs are classified as mutual funds and fall under the same rules of the securities Commission, USA (SEC), as traditional mutual Funds. However, their peculiar structure is provided unlike the SEC requirements in part, regarding the purchase and sale. ETFs differ from mutual funds the, apply for operations with conventional mutual funds are on the market in the daytime, but the execution of such operations, as a rule, made before market close. Appointed for him the price represents the total cost of the daily closing prices of all assets, included in this mutual Fund. In the case of ETF, everything is different. Bidding for these funds last all day, and the investor has the opportunity at any time to fix prices for the relevant assets.

The reliability of the ETF as a tool for stock market (apart from considering the reliability of any specific asset, they can present) should be considered just as well, like any certificate of the securities. In its content ETF is much more complex tool, than mutual funds. At the same time, an interesting combination of participants in a particular market, presented brokers, financial managers and market analysts makes working with them simple.

If you recognize, what ETF are still index funds, it encourages investors to delve deeper into the philosophy of investing in indexes, to downplay the importance of stock picking in favor of total purchases or sales of the market. And unlike most traditional index funds, investors need not take a passive "buy – hold" position. ETFs increasingly become an attractive hedging tool for intraday traders. Both types of investors coexist in the market, in fact, reinforcing the position of each lower overall operating costs.

The number of ETFs is large and amounts to many hundreds. But not all of them liquid.
Here we present a list of the most popular ЕТF.

The types of ETF

In order, that would effectively choose one or the other ETF to trade, a novice investor or speculator it is necessary to clearly structure the array ETFов, listed on the stock market.
The stock market includes the following types ETFов: ETF shares, Commodity ETF, ETF bonds, ETF currency, Index ETF, Inverse ETF, ETFs with the coefficient of variation.

ETF shares – securities, which displays the dynamics of a specific set of shares. Basically, data ETFы displays a set of shares pursuant to any sector or country. It can be, for example, the energy sector, the industrial sector. Or ETF may include stocks, issuers of which are in China.

Commodity ETF – ETF, which displays the price of physical goods. Such goods may be agricultural products, natural resources and valuable metals. Commodity ETFs are primarily focused on a specific product. In the basis of this ETF can be a physical product, which is in a specific storage location. Also in the commodity-based ETF may be a futures contract on the relevant commodity. Less common ETFы showing their value and commodity indices, which in turn can be calculated based on a variety of goods in the form of a combination of physical goods, and a variety of derivatives.

ETF bonds. The underlying asset for ETFов of this type are bonds. Which in turn allows you to trade debt instruments through the stock market.

ETF currency – ETF, which displays the value of the relevant currency. The trading Fund provides the opportunity of trading currency pairs, without access to the market Forex.

Index ETF – ETF, which displays the dynamics of a particular index, so close, as possible. Of course, an index ETF may trade at a discount or a premium relative to the index. But these time periods are very small, because very quickly the difference disappears arbitrage by institutional investors.

Inverse ETF – ETF is constructed by using various derivatives. The purpose of this design is the formation of a feedback between the price of the ETF and its corresponding index or bundle of shares. That means, if a particular index will have a downward trend, then the inverse ETF will rise. Conversely, if a particular index will have a growing dynamics, then the inverse ETF will fall. ETFs of this type are very commonly used by institutional investors, which are restricted to trade short positions. So, to hedge their risks in the falling market or sector, institutional investors can buy this type ETFов.

ETFs with the coefficient of variation. ETFы data are based on a variety of assets. While the main feature of these funds is the availability of a certain rate of change of this ETF relative to the underlying asset. This ratio, as a rule, matters 2 or 3. Therefore, this type ETFов can call a double or triple. That is, if we consider the double ETF, it grows in two times more, what grows of its underlying asset. And thus a fall this ETFа will be twice the drop of its underlying asset. These ETFы allow more aggressive speculation, the risks of trading these instruments also increased.

While taken separately, ETF can combine the characteristics of several types, the above. It can be, for example, index inverse ETFs with the coefficient 3. This characteristics corresponds to the Direxion Daily S&P 500 Bear 3X ETF (SPXS).
